  1. Gig workers

    RM160 million package for e-hailing and p-hailing workers, with Grab

    The government and Grab will jointly fund a RM160 million package from 2027. Median net income could rise by up to RM227 a month for e-hailing drivers and up to RM100 for p-hailing riders. The government also matches 35% of gig workers' SOCSO contributions, rising to 50% if the platform pays too.

  2. School aid

    Early Schooling Aid (BAP) raised from RM150 to RM200 per student

    About 5.3 million students get RM200 each for the 2027 school session (RM1 billion allocation), paid at schools. A family with four children receives RM800. Form 6 students also get a RM2,500 living allowance.

  3. PTPTN

    PTPTN repayments deferred in 2027 for borrowers earning up to RM2,500

    Borrowers earning up to RM2,500 a month can defer repayment throughout 2027. Those earning RM2,501–RM3,000 pay a minimum of RM50 a month. Borrowers with no arrears who repay regularly get a 10% discount, and employers who repay staff PTPTN loans get a tax deduction for payments from 1 Jan 2027 to 31 Dec 2028. Over 400,000 borrowers benefit.

  4. Civil servants

    RM1,500 special payment for civil servants Grade Utama B and below

    About 1.3 million civil servants in Grade Utama B and below, including contract staff, get a one-off RM1,500 Special Financial Assistance (BKK). The payment date has not been announced; it is usually confirmed later in a Treasury circular.

  5. Pensioners

    RM750 for government pensioners and veterans

    More than one million government pensioners, including pensioned and non-pensioned veterans, get a one-off RM750 special payment. Payment date not yet announced.

  6. Pensioners

    Minimum pension raised from RM1,000 to RM1,350 a month

    Benefits nearly 59,000 pensioners, Armed Forces veterans and derivative pension recipients.

  7. Status

    Budget speech ends at 5:30pm

    The Prime Minister finished tabling Budget 2027 in the Dewan Rakyat at 5:30pm. We are still adding confirmed details below, including the STR 2027 cash rates per household once LHDN or MOF publishes them.

  8. STR / SARA

    STR + SARA raised to RM16 billion; SARA up to RM150 a month

    All STR recipients get SARA of up to RM150 a month (RM1,800 a year), up from RM100, for up to nine million recipients. SARA can also be spent at 216 FAMA farmers' markets. The STR cash amounts per household band have not been published yet; we'll add them here as soon as LHDN or MOF releases them.

  9. Cash aid

    SARA MADANI: RM100 twice for every adult who is not on STR

    Malaysians aged 18 and above who are not STR recipients get RM100 of SARA MADANI on two occasions: before Aidilfitri and for the 70th National Day. Up to 13 million people, including the M40 group.

  10. Salary

    Minimum wage rises to RM2,000 from June 2027

    The minimum wage goes from RM1,700 to RM2,000 a month from June 2027, benefiting over four million workers. Micro, small and medium businesses with sales under RM50 million are excluded. A new RM2,500 starting minimum is introduced for semi-skilled workers and graduates.

  11. Income tax

    Income tax rates cut by 1 point; individual relief raised to RM12,000

    Resident individual tax rates are cut by one percentage point. The RM70,001–RM100,000 band drops to 18% and the RM100,001–RM150,000 band to 24%. The individual relief, unchanged since 2010, rises from RM9,000 to RM12,000. Our take-home calculator still uses the current rates until LHDN publishes the new schedule.

  12. EPF

    Automatic EPF membership at 18; gig workers get up to RM600/year matching

    Every Malaysian citizen will be registered as an EPF member automatically on turning 18. E-hailing and p-hailing riders get an EPF matching incentive of up to RM600 a year (RM6,000 lifetime).
